VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL was replaced this summer only with FAMILY FUN ON FRIDAYS! during the month of June.  We had a grand time each Friday!  Every Friday began with a light dinner together followed by different activities each week.  We participated in games outdoors (quick start tennis, parachutes, machine pitched balls, etc.); we took home craft activities we made; one week we played on the bouncey, another week painted  a van (really!!), and another Friday the "bubble truck" visited us with huge, huge bubbles!  If you missed it, be sure you plan on next summer being with us!  Just like this summer, we'll pray together, play together, and together praise God for who He is!

GIFT (Growing in Faith Together) is our religious education program , preschool through adult. We meet each Sunday, beginning September 19th through May,  from 9:45-10:50AM, in the St. Mary Academy cafeteria. The adult/parent GIFT session will begin the followng week on September 26th, same time in the SMA library. Everyone is welcome! Call Judy at the Parish Center to register. The GIFT program includes Sacramental preparation for First Eucharist, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation.

The GIFT Registration Form can be printed out from this website.  You can register by completing the form, including the registration fee, and sending them to the Parish Center, marked attention to Judy Montgomery; or drop in the offering basket. There will also be a final registration after all Masses the weekend of August 21st/22nd. 

 PLEASE NOTE:  A completed registration form must be returned before a                            student is admitted to the GIFT program. 

FIRST GIFT SESSION INFORMATION:  The first GIFT class begins on Sunday, September 19th at 9:45am.  For this one time only, we will begin in our Worship Space (gym) to accomodate all of our families.  Parents are welcomed to attend the first 15 minutes of class time with their child to meet the Catechist and hear an overview of the year.  Then parents will come to the SMA cafeteria for an informational session with Judy Montgomery, Children's Faith Formation Director. We look forward to seeing everyone!


CHILDREN'S LITURGY is part of our Sunday 11:00AM Liturgy. Ages 3-8 are invited during Mass to participate in understanding the Scripture readings on a child's level. The children are dismissed with a catechist after the opening song and return after the Preparation of Gifts to participate in the rest of the Mass. No registration is required.  If it is a child's first time, a parent is invited to participate with the child to make him/her feel more comfortable.  Let the children come!

We welcome adults to volunteer as a Catechist or adult/teen volunteers as assistants.  Volunteers usually serve once every 4-6 weeks.  Please contact Judy Montgomery (815-3108) at the Parish Center for more information.

 


SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION

Baptism for infants and young children of registered parishioners is celebrated throughout the year. Parents are required to attend  Baptism Preparation Classes before having your child baptized.

First Eucharist and First Reconciliation are celebrated in the second grade. A year of formal faith formation is expected prior to the Sacramental preparation year.  Preparation for the sacraments are administered either through St. Mary Academy or the St. Bernadette Religious Education program, called GIFT. Please call Judy Montgomery, Children's Formation Director, at 815-3108 for more information. We will need a copy of your child's Baptism certificate. 

First Reconciliation date is Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 7PM in the SMA gym/worship space

First Eucharist date is Sunday May 1, 2011 at 2PM @ St. Aloysius Church, Pewee Valley

Preparation for the Sacraments includes Parent meetings and Parent/Child sessions.

Confirmation  is usually celebrated at the 8th grade level,  having participated in a faith formation program one year prior.
